This will depend on your race vest and how you like to carry your water.
The regular 500ml soft flasks measure 22cm height x 6cm width and fit all Harrier race vests. They also fit most other race vests. If you are unsure please contact us.
The Slim 500ml soft flasks measure 28cm height x 5cm width and fit other brand race vests which require this tall, slim style.
If you are not sure which is right for your vest please contact us.
The key difference between the Curbar 5L and the
Kinder and Stanage 10L is the capacity to hold kit.
Generally speaking, if you do trail runs up to 2 hours, or participate in events that have regular check points within this time frame, a Curbar 5L should be sufficient for your needs.
If you have longer days out more than 2 hours which requires more kit and supplies then a Kinder 10L or a Stanage 10L (XL-XXL sized) could be better.
For example, a Curbar 5L you may wish to carry 2 x 500ml flasks or bladder, snacks, keys, phone, waterproof jacket, hat and gloves, bivvy, first aid kit.
On a longer run out a Kinder 10L or Stanage 10L would carry all of the above plus extra water (e.g. a bladder and soft flask up front), additional warm layers, waterproof trousers, map and compass.
If you are unsure, please Contact Us (link to page) and we'll be happy to discuss the options.
Having an emergency survival bag (ESB) provides much greater protection if you get into an
emergency situation in a remote trail running location. If you only have a blanket wrapped around
you, this does not protect you as much as getting into an ESB.
Hypothermia can occur even on warm days, if you have been physically exerting yourself and then have an accident, you could go into shock and the body loses heat very quickly.
Having an ESB is an excellent piece of kit to have thrown in your vest or bumbag. Ours is only 120g and comes with an emergency whistle - so you'll hardly notice it's there until one day when you might need it.
