The Grimsthorpe Loop | Our Favourite Trail By Natural Bourne Runners
Recently we asked our Harrier Support Clubs to share their favourite running trails. As a trail runner, I'm always on the hunt for new routes, or trails to try when we go on holiday, etc. So I thought, let's get the gpx files for these routes and pop them on the website! Today we're sharing the first of the routes from our friends in Lincolnshire, Natural Bourne Runners. Special thanks to Steve for sending this in!
Natural Bourne Runners was set-up two years ago to cater for runners of all abilities! We have runners progressing upwards from 5km through to ultra-runners targeting 100km+ trail races.
Being based in the small town of Bourne in South Lincolnshire our runs are mainly flat. A 50ft hill is regarded as a mountain. But, we have some lovely trail runs, our favourite being what we call ‘The Grimsthorpe Loop’. It includes a few Lincolnshire ‘mountains’ and follows public footpaths around the stunning Grimsthorpe Castle estate.
As with any trail run, tackling this route in winter can mean being ankle deep in mud or being blown off your feet in the most exposed section. We also have the stunning Bourne Woods for small trail runs, either sticking to the main tracks or going ‘off-piste’ on the maze of mountain bike tracks.
You can download the gpx file for the route here.
