What size water bladder should I choose?

The capacity will be based on how much water you will consume on your longest runs and the amount of weight you want to carry on your back. A top tip is to base it on your longest training run, rather than race day where there may be regular check points to refill. If you prefer to spread the weight across your body, a 1.5L water bladder and two 500ml Harrier soft bottles in the front of your race vest can offer more balance weight distribution. However, going for a 2L future proofs you and you don't have to fill it full each time! See our no slosh help section...

Do your water bladders leak?

The slider top allows you to securely close your water bladder after filling. The hose / tube can be removed for easy transportation without any leaks. The TPU bladder bag has an extra strong pinch welded to prevent any bursts. Each one of our water bladders is individually pressure tested at manufacture for any potential leaks or faults.

How do I clean my water bladder?

After use give your water bladder a very good rinse and allow to fully air dry. A top tip is to use a kitchen whisk to allow the water bladder bag to stay open and air dry after use. You can disconnect your tube and keep it in the freezer between uses which prevents any bacteria gunk build up.

How do I thread my water bladder in my race vest?

The most comfortable and practical way to thread your bladder tube is in a 'U' shape. Check out this video where Kate demonstrates how to thread the tube in her Harrier race vest.

You want to thread the tube from the back main compartment, over your shoulder, down one side of the front, then in a U shape so the mouth piece sits close to your mouth. Securing the tube in the elastic loops on the front of your vest.

Should I choose a water bladder or soft bottles for my runs?

Water bladders are a great way to carry larger amounts of water on your trail runs. They are easy to use and versatile for longer distance runs. They can also be great when you prefer to carry extra weight on your back, leaving your front pockets free for other things such as phone, snacks, map etc.

Soft bottles can be better for easy access and being aware of how much water you have left. If you use a water bladder, keep regular checks on how much liquid you have left so you don't get caught short. Supplementing with a soft bottle can work great if you want to carry a mixture of plain water and energy drink.

Is it easy to add energy powders to liquid in my water bladder?

The slider top allows wide opening meaning no mess when adding powders and gels to water.
