Norfolk Coastal Path | Trail Of The Month By NUTS
Norfolk Ultra Training Support (NUTS) are one of our support clubs based in, you guessed it, Norfolk! When we asked Gavin to share their favourite trail, he said without doubt it would be the Norfolk Coastal Path.
"We are spoilt with a number of trails in our rural countryside all be it a bit flat they have a beauty parallel to anywhere else in the UK. But if pushed, there is one that would always feature in everyone's top 3.... the Norfolk coastal path.
At 83 miles long, with a hugely varied terrain and the ocean almost always in sight its hard not to fall in love with it! From bouncy boardwalks, salt marshes, pine forest on golden sands, miles of sand dunes, one the UK's largest grey seal colonies, eroding cliff paths and its infamous 4.5 mile shingle bank - it really does have it all!
It's incredibly well maintained and sign posted, making it accessible for all abilities and the coastal hopper buses make it a great option for point-to-point training runs.
The route is also used for a few races throughout the year in varying distances from marathon to the full length 83 miles."
Many thanks to Gavin for sharing this route with us! NUTS is unlike most other running clubs. It's a local Facebook group for ultra runners in Norfolk and surrounding counties to share tales, advice and support with others. It includes members with years of 100+ milers under their belts to those looking to take on their first 50k! Check them out on Facebook here.
